Birdwatchers Spring Fair 2011
The dates for next years show are Saturday 21st May and Sunday 22nd May, make a note in your diary now! We are pleased to announce that this years sponsors will again be sponsoring the 2011 event. Already we have the nucleus of a talks programme with Ashley Grove, Oliver Smart and Nick Martin, in the line-up!
Admission Charges
Admission to this years Birdwatchers Spring Fair is £5.00 per person(with children under 12 free if accompanied by an adult). However, there is a concessionary rate of £3.50 for members of the RSPB, The West Midland Bird Club and Senior Citizens, on presentation of their membership or social security card. If you are not in any of the above concessionary categories, you can still obtain admission to the show at the reduced rate of £3.50 per person by sending a cheque now for the amount in question.

Allow time for Royal Mail delivery of tickets and it is suggested you do not apply for tickets later than 7th May.

Daily Guided Tours of the RSPB Middleton Lakes Reserve. Led by RSPB staff.
Book at the RSPB Stand, located in the Glade.
Guided bird Identification walks around the lake and grounds of Middleton Hall.
Led by experts from The West Midland Bird Club.
Illustrated talks on the hour from 11 o’clock, both days.
Digiscoping workshops with expert Chris Galvin. On the Opticron stand.
Photo Workshops with top wild life photographer Nick Martin. Starting at 2 pm both days.
Each session lasts one and a half hours. Cost Per Person £12.00.
Book on arrival as places are limited.

Meet international bird artist Mike Warren and see him at work. In the main marquee.
Guest appearance of the urban bird man Davis Lindo (Sunday only).
Bird Ringing Demonstrations by The Mercian Ringing Group.
Visitors will see how birds are caught, weighed, measured and ringed.
Moth Trapping. This increasingly popular branch of natural history will be carried out by The Warwickshire Butterfly Conservation Branch. Examples of catches will be on display and could include various species of Hawk Moths.
Observe the nesting activity of Herons from a recently constructed observation point.
Other activities include Pond Dipping and Bug Hunting, arranged and supervised by the RSPB.
There will also be many exhibitors present who will have an extensive range of products from top
quality optics to clothing, books and much, much more!
Hot and cold food will be available all day and there is a licensed bar.
Come along, meet other birders in the delightful setting of Middleton Hall, over the weekend 15th May-16th May.
Here is the historical which have only just noticed you asked for!
In the 17th century, Middleton Hall was the home of Francis Willughby, a founder member of The Royal Society. His interest in natural history and industrious study of the subject was encouraged by John Ray, considered to be one of Britain’s greatest naturalists. A great deal of both their life times work was carried out at Middleton Hall, where after Willughbys early death. Ray continued to live, publishing Willughbys work and much original material of his own.
